Ticket Info
Online ticket sales are limited, but same-day tickets are available at the ice rink ticket window beginning at 9:45 a.m. Tickets sell fast, so it is recommended you arrive early or purchase online for a future date.
A portion of ticket proceeds benefit the community through the San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department.

ICE SKATES
Figure and hockey skate sizes range from toddler’s size 8 to adult’s size 15. You may also bring your own ice skates.
SKATE HELPERS
For beginning skaters under 48” in height with skates on, we offer Skate Helpers, penguin-looking tools that glide with the skater along the ice and help with balance and control. For safety considerations, Skate Helpers are rented at the discretion of Rink Management. Skaters must be able to stand on their own and push the Skate Helper by themselves
Lockers & Conveniences
Lockers
Lockers may be rented for $3 and are large enough to hold a couple of pairs of shoes, a medium-size handbag and a few small purchases.
Restrooms
Restrooms are located in the Union Square Parking Garage. Since skates may not be worn outside of the ice rink, they recommend you use the facilities before putting on skates.LEARN TO SKATE
Every Saturday & Sunday | 8:30 - 9:30 AM
Kaiser Permanente invites skaters with little to no experience to The Safeway Holiday Ice Rink in Union Square presented by Alaska Airlines to come learn from professional skate instructors every weekend.
Lessons are free (including skate rental) to those who sign up in advance.
Space is limited to 50 participants per day.
GROUP RATES
Applicable Monday through Thursday from 11/7/18 to 12/20/18 and from 1/7/19 – 1/17/19
- 15 or more - $0.50 discount per/ person
- 25 or more - $1.00 discount per/ person
- 75 or more - see Private Parties below
Private Parties
- Available on select Mondays and Tuesdays during the 6PM & 8PM sessions.
- On or before 12/18/18: $3,050 for the 6PM session and $4,050 for the 8PM session.
- Rates for private parties in January: $2,250 for the 6PM session and $2,850 for the 8PM session.
- Sessions are not open to the general public if sold to a private party.
RAIN POLICY
The rink will remain open in light to moderate rain but may close in heavy and sustained rain at the discretion of Ice Rink management. No refunds or rain checks will be issued for tickets purchased at the door, but rain checks will be honored for tickets purchased online in advance.
