Officina Alessi presents a group of projects, amongst which the “coffee.it” espresso coffee maker by Dutch architect Wiel Arets has a special place.

Alessi has always been the central brand for “The Dream Factory”. There are many new products for spring 2008. Abi Alice, young Australian designer, presents a fruit holder and a basket. Both are, in a way, reinterpretations of the large “Resonance” centrepiece, in that it is made from steel sheet, cut, folded and curved in order to give it the required form.

The successful “Mediterraneo” series by Emma Silvestris in cooperation with Laura Polinoro Workshop is extended by a range of kitchen boxes and new objects for the bathroom.

Hani Rashid, who masterminded the design for the Alessi showroom in New York, created the “Trinava” flower vase which enhances the shape of its predecessor, a pencil holder in the already familiar “Desktop Architecture” series. It is made in fine bone china, in two colour variants, white and green. A special mention must be reserved for the semi-professional knives set by Richard Sapper and the project of miniatures for collectors.

Lastly… a real new entry! Giovanni Alessi Anghini, great grandson of the company’s founder, after a period of training in Stefano Giovannoni’s studio, presents his first work: a bottle cap remover consisting of a large steel capsule containing an ingenious pressure-operated opening mechanism.
